No place like home

Good Afternoon All!

Well I once again was a slacker and didn't post on yesterday about what I am thankful for. I guess I need to be a little more consistent. So I thought I would do two today :)

Day 5: The Farm

Collin and I have been living out at his grandparents farm for the last 4 months now. Honestly, at first I was not thrilled. When I was little I would play out on my parents land in Commerce and I loved the country and I grew up a little bit of a country girl. However, for the past 7 years I have been a city girl. If you know me, you know that I am 90% of the time a prim and proper person. I don't like bugs, I don't like weird smells or weird noises, etc. I may be a sporty, get-your-hands-dirty type person, but I have, in my own words, "grown up".

The farm was honestly a place where I did not want to be. To me it was Mimi and Papa's place, and as awesome and sweet of them to let us stay there, it was not my home. However, as we grow near the end of our stay there, I now know I am going to miss it. I will miss waking up and seeing cows outside the fence. I will miss Oliver playing with all the little kitties in excitement. I will miss Jade running up from the barn with a wild look in her eyes because she knows she was into something. I will miss hearing the coyotes at night. I will miss the smells and the peaceful feeling. I will miss spotting a new calf and getting to go play with it. I will miss looking out into the pasture and sky and feeling God's greatness.

It is somewhere that I have grown to love. Though, it is not home for me, I am thankful for the little red house out in the country that was our first place.

Day 6: Our New Home

If you were to tell me 5 years ago that at age 22 I would be married and buying a house, I would tell you that you are nuts. However, here I am 22, married, with 2 dogs, an awesome job, and a week away from owning a home.

I have always been a little very old fashioned. I was raised by parents that were born during WWII. That were married at 20 and had children by 21 and they loved the simple things, because usually that was all they had. My dad loved my mom. And my mom adored my dad. They were high school sweethearts. So believe it or not, I am kind of raised to think as they did. So when it came to Collin and I getting married at 22, I was all for it. And when it is coming down to time to buy a house, bring it on.

We are very fortunate young couple. We are very capable and able and financially set to buy a house at our age. I am so excited to take this step with Collin. We love that we will be investing in our future together. This is the house we will raise our children in, have our first Christmas in,  probably have a lot of fights in, but also have a lot of love in. It is where we can finally call "home".

-----------------------

In other news, We close a week from today at 3:00 PM on our home. We are so happy and we are so thankful for the people at CNB bank for working with us and walking us through the steps. It has been a surprisingly smooth process. Collin and I will be spending the weekend in Denton with my mom and family. We plan to do a little Christmas shopping and a lot of family time.

We hope everyone is doing well.

Blessings,
Jessica
