Happy May!!!
On Friday morning, Collin's parents, my mom, my 7 year old nephew Noah, Collin and I all met at my doctor's office in Denton . We were there to have one question answered... Is it a boy or a girl?
I have been so excited for this day since day 1. I hadn't slept much the past few nights and the days leading up to Friday seemed to drag on. I prayed our little one would be cooperative.
Collin's parents, Dwight and Michelle, and Collin and I went into the sonogram room while my mom and Noah waited outside (They wanted to be surprised). Right off, we saw our little one and it's little arms and legs. The sweet nurse was very patient and tried moving Baby A around to get a good view. I asked her, "Are you trying to get a view of what it is?" And she replied, "Oh I know what it is, I just want a better shot for you to see it better." Collin immediately said out of excitement, "That's not fair!"
After a few more moves, the nurse said,
"Well it's a..GIRL!"
She showed us what made her a girl and then we listened to her heartbeat at a very strong 153 bpm. Collin's parents were excited, I was shocked, and Collin seemed stunned or scared (not quite sure). I was so sure it was a boy but Collin and his parents both thought it was a girl.
We went out to the waiting room and told my mom and she was thrilled. Especially once she realized what our little one would be named.
When it came to figuring out names, Collin and I went back and forth between two names for a girl and finally settled on one and it has stuck ever since. Boy names were more difficult for us to come up with, which might have been a sign that we didn't need to decide just yet.
Her name will be:
Katie June Alexander
She is named Katie after 3 women. Katie Alice was Collin's great grandmother that his family loved very dearly. Also Kate Cameron was my grandmother whom I never met personally but have always admired the person that I have been told that she was. And thirdly, she is named for my middle name of Katherine.
Her middle name is after my Mother, June. I pray to be half the woman that she is and that I can walk in her footsteps on being a patient, God seeking mother for our little girl.
We patiently and prayerfully wait for her arrival in early October. She is already so very loved and I cannot wait to meet our precious Katie June.
"For this child I prayed; and the LORD answered my prayer."
